Summer has been good to home sellers in the Houston area. Lily Jang of Lily Jang Real Estate says August figures aren’t in yet, but July was red hot. “In fact July was the greatest one-month volume of single family home sales of all time. The Houston Association of Realtors says the average price of a house also set a record of $313,000 for a home,” she tells KTRH News. There has been a lot of talk lately about millennials moving into the home-buying market. “What I’m seeing with millennials is that they’re really savvy and they know they’ll get more for their money if they leave the Loop. So they’re buying homes where they can afford.” And Jang says they’re not looking for the staleness of typical suburbia. “They don’t want cookie-cutter homes. They want unique older homes that they can update themselves and make it their own.” Home prices in the U.S. are projected to continue to rise through 2020.
