Harris County Officials just announced the results of their latest human trafficking operation.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says 'Operation Independence' resulted in 37 arrests, and that those arrests included six human traffickers.
"These are criminals who are taking advantage of vulnerable people by forcing them to have sex with strangers for money," Gonzalez stated.
The Sheriff’s Office’s three most recent human trafficking initiatives have netted more than 180 arrests.
“While these numbers might be impressive, they are also alarming,” Sheriff Gonzalez said. “It is well past time for all of Harris County to join in the fight against Human Trafficking.”
