Found Human Jawbone Identified As Houston Man

Severely Wounded Troops Attend Outdoor Summer Retreat In Vail, Colorado

A jawbone found last month near Bastrop in the Colorado River has been identified as the remains of a missing Houston man.

Jonathan Lee Hamilton was reported missing by his family more than four years ago. They were concerned when he first disappeared in 2015 because Hamilton is diabetic and did not have medication, so the family notified police. The Bastrop Chief of Police says they located him but the 26-year-old was not a danger to himself so they did not detain him.

He was last seen walking near the Colorado River. His family did not see Hamilton again. According to their post on Facebook, the family posted on Facebook that the Travis County Medical Examiners Office and the North Texas University Forensic Anthropology department are trying to determine a cause of death.

No other human remains were found with the jawbone.
