President Donald Trump says Japan and the U.S. have been working on a trade deal for a long time involving U.S. grown corn. Trump is at the G7 Summit in France and alongside Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe that they have agreed in principle to a transaction involving e-commerce and agriculture. Trump announced that the two groups have agreed on every point of the deal in three areas: industrial tariffs, agriculture and digital trade.
Once/if the deal is finalized, it is expected to do away with the possibility that the President could impose a 25% tariff on Japan's auto and auto parts exports to the U.S. He has threatened that in the past.
