With Houston area children and college students starting back to school, first responders want students to have a safe school year.
Crime Stoppers of Houston CEO Rania Mankarious said students are their first line of intelligence.
"You absolutely know things before anybody else. Please, report what you know and don't stop reporting," said Mankarious.
She said students have helped them solve 2,000 school crime cases.
"Removing 300 weapons, to date, from our area schools before they could be used against another student," said Mankarious.
She said students should never make a threat against a school--which is a federal crime.
