TEA Says Entire HISD Board Should Be Replaced

As summer winds to a close, the Texas Education Agency says the entire Houston ISD board should be replaced by a state-appointed team.

The state agency has been investigating the district's board for months over claims of violations of the Texas Open Meetings Act and other misconduct.

At issue is the way certain board members have tried to oust current interim Superintendent Grenita Lathan in favor of former Superintendent Abe Saavedra.

HISD board officials have until August 15th to respond to the state agency's preliminary report.
