President Trump had a big win in the Electoral College in 2016, and he might pull off an even bigger win next year.
There are some predictions his numbers in the Electoral College could grow next year. U-H political scientist Brandon Rottinghaus agrees.
“That could happen if the Democrats nominate someone that is not appealing to Democrats or kind of the traditional voter,” Rottinghaus said.
That's led some like Bernie Sanders to call for getting rid of the Electoral College, and to that, Rottinghaus says good luck.
“It would require a massive shift in how we do elections. It would take a lot of movement to get that put on the table,” Rottinghaus explained.
As we saw in 2016, the Electoral College works for the Republicans despite new claims not one demographic trend is in their favor.
