Manufacturing jobs are way up during the Trump administration, compared to the Obama years. Texas is one of the biggest beneficiaries.
Rice economics professor John Diamond says the President's tax cuts have made a big difference.
"The tax reform policy definitely helped, the 2017 Tax Act. But I think more importantly has been the reduction in regulations."
Professor Diamond says Texas always benefits when manufacturing increases.
"Because we manufacture goods as well as the fact that a lot of manufactured goods travel through Texas going to foreign places."
Despite the national media almost begging for it Professor Diamond says he doesn't expect a recession any time soon.
"We're gonna stick with this for a little while longer. I don't think a recession is imminent; certainly at some point in the next few years we'll probably hit a slowdown, but I think for the next year it looks like we're in good shape."
Compared to the Obama years, manufacturing jobs are up more than 314,000 during the Trump administration.
