Adios, El Nino?

El Nino was supposed to be our friend this hurricane season. But El Nino is weakening.

This year’s El Nino wasn’t very strong to begin with, so Eric Berger with Space City Weather tells KTRH that the outlook for the rest of the season isn’t going to change much.

“When you’re in a weak El Nino like we are now the effects are much more moderate,” Berger explained. “I’m not sure it’s going to mean a whole not.”

The most active months during hurricane season in the Gulf of Mexico are August and September. Hurricane season runs through the end of November.
