Today and Tomorrow are Amazon Prime Day

It’s bigger than Black Friday for Amazon. In fact, the retail giant led by the richest guy in the world makes more money during Amazon Prime Day than any other day of the year, this year aiming for $5.8 million, up from $3.9 billion last year.

It’s been called “The Great Disrupter,” highlighting the impact Amazon has had on the entire shopping industry.

Now, five years into what has already become a shopping tradition for many families, the brick and mortar stores in your community have taken notice, according to shopping expert Trae Bodge. “A lot of retailers, like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Kohl’s, J.C. Penney’s, Macys – they’re all going head to head with Amazon, offering big sales around this time,” she tells KTRH News. Some of those sales are available in stores and some are online only.

How big is Amazon Prime Day today? It may well be the biggest shopping day of all.

“In fact it beats out Amazon’s own performance on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, so it’s the biggest shopping day of the year for them,” says Bodge.

Last year all online retailers saw a 54% jump in sales. This year they are expecting a 79% increase. On your mark, get set, go....
