Nehls decides against run for third term as Fort Bend County Sheriff

Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls has made a decision about his future.

The two-term sheriff has announced he will not run for a third term next year, but has not given a reason as to why.

Nehls has been the sheriff in Fort Bend County since 2012. Before that he had served two terms as the Constable of Fort Bend County Precinct 4.

Under his watch, mthere has been a 65% reduction in residential burglaries in Fort Bend.

“We aim to make you feel safe and secure in your home and when traveling around Fort Bend County,” said Nehls in a statement. “We are one of the safest counties in the greater Houston area and I am very proud of that.”

Nehls has been in law enforfement for 24 years since his start in the state of Wisconsin.
