Houston Police announce results of ‘Operation Broken Heart’

Houston police earlier this morning announced the results of ‘Operation Broken Heart.’

HPD Sgt. Luis Menendez-Sierra said they did the same thing last year, and that, unfortunately this multi-agency operation found that the problem of online sexual exploitation of children isn’t getting any better.

“We did the same operation last year for three months and made sixty arrests. This year we only did it for two months and made 51 arrests in that two month period,” Menendez-Sierra explained.

He also said that this is not a local problem by any stretch.

“A suspect traveled all the way from California here to Houston where he met his victim and sexually assaulted her. This is not a local crime. This is not something that’s relegated to your next door neighbor or one town away. This is a nationwide issue,” he explained.
