Third person dies in weekend boating accident in Chambers County

A third person has died after a boating accident last night in Chambers County at Hugo Point Park.

The Chambers County Sheriff said they're still investigating a large ski boat that hit a bass boat carrying six people. Three of the six on the bass boat died, including the driver.

There were five people on the ski boat. Four of them suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the ski boat, Jacob Vernon Breaux, 23, of Baytown, is charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter.

The Chambers County Sheriff's Office is investigating a boat collision that killed two people and injured eight others on Sunday evening. The accident happened about 7:30 p.m. at Old Lost River and Cross Bayou in Hugo Point Park. After a ski boat and a bass boat ran into each other, firefighters and rescue crew used boats to bring the victims back to the shore. Several people were taken to the hospital with critical injuries, and five with non-life-threatening injuries. One person is reportedly under arrest as the investigation continues.
