Distracted driving is still an issue in Texas, despite the 2017 law barring texting and driving.
TxDOT and AT&T have partnered up, and have taken their tour of a distracted driving virtual reality experience to Toyota Center today. TxDOT’s Deidrea George tells KTRH the law that went on the books two years ago us having an impact, but there is still work to do.
“One in five crashes are still caused by distracted driving. We still have over 95-thousand distracted driving crashes in Texas,” she said.
George says the number of distracted driving accidents has dropped by 6% when you compare the 12-month periods before and after the law went into effect.
