HPD: Security guard charged with murder in shooting at washateria

A security guard faces a charge of murder after police say he shot and killed a man outside of a washateria last night.

The names of the victim and the security guard and the victim have not been released.

This happened around 9 o'clock last night in southeast Houston. Police and firefighters responded to a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound.

The security guard at the scene told police he was patrolling and had ordered the man not to come back the day before. However, the man returned last night and was seen taking trash out of a dumpster.

The security guard asked the man to leave the property, but he refused and became aggressive. The man then came at the security guard in “a threatening manner,” and the guard told police he fired once, killing the man.

No one else was injured, and police are waiting to see if there is any surveillance video of what happened.
