Officials with the Texas Department of Transportation are setting the goal of eliminating all traffic deaths statewide by 2050.
TxDOT made the goal public last week, along with a midpoint goal of cutting deaths in half by 2035.
The Texas Transportation Commission called on TxDOT to create a plan to attain zero traffic fatalities, but without listing specifics.
There were more than 36-hundred traffic deaths in Texas last year, almost ten a day.
The most recent day with no Texas traffic deaths was in November 2000.
