Sorry, you don't really have that many friends after all

Wow. You boast such a prolific group of friends on Facebook and Twitter notifications remind you hourly how many people like you.

It turns out not so many in real life, though.

A study of 600 people across multiple continents by Plos One finds most people only have half the friends they think they have. Literally half.

One of the study’s authors says we’re not very good at assessing who our real friends are. The best gauge, they discovered, is how many friends you each have in common. Your friends who are friends with your other friends are most likely to be your true friends.
