During the ceremony, the city will acknowledge the names of Sugar Land residents who died while on active duty; they are engraved inside of the Remembrance Tower at Sugar Land Memorial Park. The memorial features an obelisk recognizing all branches of the military along the names of Sugar Land residents who died while on active duty. The etched names serve as lasting expression of gratitude from the city of Sugar Land and its community. Two additional names have been added to the memorial this year, including Sgt. Lonnie Green and Private First Class Arthur DeHart.
Limited parking will be available on-site. A complimentary shuttle service will run from University of Houston at Sugar Land, 14000 University Blvd., to Sugar Land Memorial Park.
