The Texas Legislature Fights Red Light Cameras

A bill that would ban red light cameras in Texas is one step closer to becoming a law.

On Friday, the state Senate approved House Bill 1631.

Now the bill heads to Governor Greg Abbott's office to be signed.

The bill bans cities from using cameras to catch locals speeding or running red lights.

Cities like Arlington and Richardson have already stopped using the devices and DeSoto decided to never install them in the first place.

Supporters trying to ban red light cameras and photo radar cameras go door to door in Sheridan to collect signatures for a ballot measure.
