Austin is the Apple of Their Eye

Apple is expanding in Austin.

The company is confirming that it has a short-term lease on the Riata Corporate Park 8 building, which is less than a mile from its current campus.

The tech company also confirmed that it has leased a building at North Austin's Parmer Innovation Center.

News of these leases comes before the ground breaking on their future one-billion dollar campus.

Experts say it suggests that Apple needs more space because the future campus can't come soon enough.

That future campus is expected to be complete in 2021 and is estimated to employ up to five-thousand people initially.
