Houston woman won't face charges after leaving two-year old at fire station

A woman who dropped her child off at a fire station in southwest Houston overnight claims she wasn't planning on leaving him there permanently.

The boy was left by his mom around 3 o'clock this morning at Fire Station 68.

The woman told police she had nowhere else to go after she said she and her son were turned away from a shelter. She also said that she and her child had been living out of her vehicle.

The woman told firefighters she was worried about her child's safety and that's why she dropped him off.

Police were at the fire station when the woman returned about an hour later, and officers gave the boy back to his mother. They were both taken to a nearby CPS facility.

The woman is not facing any criminal charges.
