Astros ‘Slam’ Mariners for Seventh-Straight Win

The Houston Astros are having a power surge.

For only the third time in franchise history, the team had two grand slams in a single game.Third baseman Yuli Gurriel and former American League MVP Jose Altuve both went deep with the bases loaded to lift the Astros to a 10-6 win over the first place Seattle Mariners.

Altuve’s blast came in the sixth inning, which gave the Astros the lead.Gurriel sealed the victory with his grand slam in the eighth.

George Springer rounded out the scoring; he hit a two-run homer in the third inning, his fourth of the year.

Relief pitcher Brad Peacock got the win.Starter Wade Miley gave up three earned runs in four innings.Peacock threw 3.1 innings and struck out seven.

The victory extends the team’s current winning streak to seven games, while simultaneously ending the Mariners’ six-game streak.

The Astros also hit multiple grand slams in a single game against Minnesota (June 8, 2014 – Jon Singleton/Chris Carter) and the Mets (July 30, 1969 – Denis Menke/Jimmy Wynn).
