Former UT Austin Tennis Coach Pleas In Bribery Admissions Scam

(Austin, TX) -- A former UT Austin tennis coach faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to taking a bribe to admit a student to the university. The U.S. Attorney's office in the District of Massachusetts announced Monday that Michael Center entered a guilty plea for a count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud.

Center accepted 100-thousand-dollars in 2015 to admit a student as a recruit to the tennis team, even though the student never played tennis. UT fired Center last month after he was implicated in the college admissions scandal.
