Lotto Psychology

Why do we rush out to get the huge Powerball Ticket, but not when its "only" in the single digit millions?

Neuro-Psychologist Dr. Michelle Bengtson tells KTRH, "People think by playing the bigger jackpots that they will win more money and if there's multiple winners, they'll get a larger portion for themselves."

She also says, "Greed is the main reason we buy a lotto ticket and the fact that everyone wants to get something for virtually nothing. Ironically, if you really want a better chance of winning the lotto, smaller jackpots are your best bet, because less people are playing."
