Four dozen dead in New Zealand mosque attack

Officials say at least 49 people were killed when gunmen opened fire on two mosques in Christchurch during Friday prayers.The attacks happened during Friday prayers. Police Commissioner Mike Bush says the vast majority of the victims were killed at one mosque in Christchurch.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has called the shootings a terror attack.It's the biggest massacre in New Zealand in 30 years.Just before the shootings, one of the alleged attackers posted a link to a manifesto that was filled with anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim ideas.

The shootings were reportedly live streamed over the internet.Facebook and YouTube are acting quickly after a gunman in New Zealand reportedly live streamed a mass shooting.Facebook says police alerted them to the video on their platform shortly after the stream started and they quickly removed it.They also took down the shooter's Facebook and Instagram accounts and are removing any praise or support for the crime and the shooter.
