Gas prices keep rising

That pain at the pump you have been feeling for weeks now isn’t going away. Prices around the Houston area continue their recent trend.

“We’re up a dime to $2.30 a gallon,” said Joshua Zuber with AAA Texas.

Zuber says the statewide average is at $2.29 a gallon this week, so Houston now has a higher average than the rest of the state. Why do prices keep going up?

“Demand is starting to increase around the area, and crude oil prices have been fluctuating,” Zuber stated.

That, on top of refineries closing for maintenance and the switch to summer blend gas is what is driving prices higher.
