AUDIO: ASTROS STATEMENT - Pitcher Suspended For Performance-Enhancing Drugs

A pitcher for the Houston Astros is being suspended for allegedly taking performance-enhancing drugs. Major League Baseball officials announced yesterday that Francis Martes failed a drug test and was suspended for 80 games. Martes is recovering from surgery on his elbow and wasn't expected to play until later this season.

ASTROS STATEMENT

The Houston Astros released the following statement regarding today’s suspension of right-handed pitcher Francis Martes:
“The Houston Astros fully support MLB’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment program. We hope that Francis can learn from this experience and that he returns to have a successful career. We will not comment further on this matter.”
