The low gas prices we were enjoying late last year are no longer low, and they keep going up.
Not only are they going up, but they are rising quickly. Daniel Armbruster at AAA Texas tells KTRH News a gallon of regular around Houston is averaging $2.16 a gallon.
“That’s still 12 cents less than it was a year ago. That said, prices are rising in most cities around the state,” Armbruster said.
Part of the reason for this is refineries getting ready to make the switch to summer blend gas. Another factor is what’s happening in Venezuela. And yet another reason is the rising price of crude oil.
“That makes up a majority of what you pay at the pump,” Armbruster stated.
The average price for a gallon of gas in Texas is $2.18 a gallon.”
