AUDIO: Alleged FM 1960 Gunman Arrested Overnight

Alan Anthony Ruth, 25, is now in custody, in connection with the shooting that happened on FM 1960 near Ella around 10am Thursday.

Ruth was arrested without incident overnight while sitting in a Taco Bell drive-thru.

Authorities were searching for a shiny grey Mercury Grand Marquis with a black hood.

Harris County Sheriff's Office officials say the victim, a man in his 20's, had three toddlers and another adult in the car when he alone was targeted and shot. No word on the relationship among the passengers in the vehicle. Only that they weren't injured.

Authorities say a good Samaritan drove the victim's car to the hospital. The victim remains in critical condition.

Deputy Thomas Gilliland said on Thursday:

"They were waiting to turn, the suspect pulled up right next to them. The suspect pulled a weapon and fired directly into the vehicle,” said Gilliland. “The passenger that was in the front of the vehicle was struck one time by a gunshot wound to the head.”

Authorities say the gunman sped from the scene, and those images were captured on camera by new surveillance cameras nearby.

Feras Qaqish heard gunshots and says the crime was captured on his new security cameras that activated an hour before the shooting occurred.

Police now have that footage and used that in their investigation.
