Houston mayoral candidate Tony Buzbee loses millions of dollars in valuables when his River Oaks home was robbed after a Super Bowl party early Monday morning.
"I was robbed this morning by at least two individuals who came into my home; in my private sanctuary."
The high-profile lawyer told a campaign rally Monday he lost cash, artwork, and other valuables. It appears the criminals got into his gated home through a little-used door in the garage. Buzbee claimed in an earlier Facebook posting that he confronted one of the suspects, but his handgun misfired.
"If we can't be safe in our homes, where can we be safe?!?! Crime has no zip code, and none of us are immune."
Police are reviewing surveillance tape to identify possible suspects.
During his rally, Buzbee also addressed the issues of firefighter pay, the need to properly fund a flood control plan, and homelessness. He's challenging incumbent Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner in the November election.
