(Houston, TX) -- A suspended Harris County Sheriff's sergeant is headed to trial in connection with a 2015 beating. Marco Carrizales is accused of breaking Ismael Garza's eye socket during a chase near a La Porte refinery.
Carrizales was off-duty but in uniform and working an extra job at the time. He has been on administrative leave ever since being indicted in 2017. Carrizales' attorney calls the charges baseless, telling Houston Chronicle his client never beat Garza.
