(Galveston, TX) -- Moody Gardens in Galveston is now the temporary home of a couple of large flightless birds. Police rounded up a pair of emus as they wandered through the yard of an elementary school on Tuesday.
The owner of the bids called animal control and said they had belonged to his mother. When she died, he brought the emus back to the island with him, only to find out that they're considered exotic animals and are illegal in the city limits. Moody Gardens has agreed to care for the emus for the time being.
