End Of An Era As Fitzgerald's Closes Down

(Houston, TX)  --  As of the start of 2019, a prominent feature of Houston's entertainment landscape is now gone.  Monday night's New Year's Eve concert by an Austin band called Skyrocket was the last show for Fitzgerald's, which had been a live-music venue in the Heights since 1977.

The club on White Oak at Studewood had seen performances by Stevie Ray Vaughan, ZZ Top, James Brown, and many others over the past 40 years.  A Chicago-based company bought the vintage 1920s building in August.
