(Houston, TX) -- The Harris County treasurer and the head of the Houston ISD are at odds over the district's leadership.
Treasurer Orlando Sanchez called a news conference on Friday in which he urged the Texas Education Agency to take over the operations of HISD.
Sanchez pointed out that HISD board members have been arrested, the district is in debt, and there have three superintendents in less than a year. Protesters disrupted the news conference, and one of them poured water on Sanchez's head.
HISD board of trustees President Rhonda Skillern-Jones dismissed Sanchez's complaints as "disingenuous."
