For many family families a tradition that goes with the holidays is collected to watch a classic Christmas movie. But what you watch may well depend on which state you live in.
CableTV.com took the list of the top 20 Christmas movies from the AMC movie channel and cross-referenced the films with Google Trend search analysis to determine the favorite holiday classic in each state.
The number four movie in total popularity in the Jimmy Stewart classic “It’s a Wonderful Life,” which is the most popular in Arkansas, Indiana, Kansas and New York.
Number three is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, tops in Alabama, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Tennessee.
Second is Elf, beloved in Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin.
But the top movie of all, and the number one Christmas movie in Texas, is Home Alone, which is also the favorite of Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Minnesota, North Dakota, Oregon, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
