The story of Texan Rolando Torres. He came to this country to work…not surprisingly here, in plants and trees. But unlike the thousands now massing our borders, Rolando took the long, legal route to citizenship: a green card, maintaining employment, even starting his own tree trimming business. In October, Rolando officially became American. When I asked why…he said he “wanted to do the right thing.”
And this Christmas, instead of visiting family is San Luis Potosi, Mexico… he is stepping on a plane for the first time and flying his family, including 3 kids….to Washington, DC., to see the White House, the Capitol, the Supreme Court. For ten days Rolando will revel in the fact of being in his country’s deepest heart. I can’t wait to hear all about it.
