China Is Putting Cockroaches To Work, Then Serving Them Up

One thing pretty much everyone can agree on is that we all hate cockroaches.  But while most of us want to get rid of the creepy crawly pests, in China, businesses are putting cockroaches to work.

A company called Shandog Qiaobin Agricultural Technology runs a plant that gathers kitchen waste from homes and restaurants and feeds it to billions of cockroaches, as a new form of waste disposal.

The roaches can then be fed to pigs or other livestock as a high-protein food source.

Shandong Qiaobin says they process 50 tons of kitchen waste a day, and they hope to have three more cockroach plants up and running by next year.

Would you work in a factory if you knew there were a billion cockroaches hanging around inside?
