Americans shopping in big numbers for Christmas

Today is known as Green Monday, coined by eBay in 2007 because it was their best sales day of the Christmas season. The name has stuck, and judging by the numbers that won't change anytime soon.

According to the National Retail Federation more than 165 million Americans went shopping between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday; either at the mall or electronically (Cyber Monday brought in $7.9 Billion by itself). Shopping Shanda from Shopping with Shanda tells KTRH the ease of mobile shopping is having a huge impact.

“There are so many apps and avenues for finding things. It’s all at your fingertips,” Shanda said.

But there are still three weeks to go before Christmas, and retail expert Trae Bodge says those retailers that didn't early season numbers will be offering even more deals.

“They can start discounting more aggressively to make up for that,” Bodge said, adding that December is the month to find really good deals on toys.
