Texas Rangers assist in search warrant at Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston

This morning police have executed a search warrant on the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston connected to the clergy sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic Church.

That search warrant, according to Montgomery County DA Brett Ligon, is connected to Rev. Manuel La Rosa-Lopez, who was arrested in September and charged with four counts of indecency with a child involving sexual contact.

“We are here for records, anything that would give us a greater picture of potential disciplinary history,” Ligon said.

Ligon also indicated Cardinal Daniel DiNardo has been in contact with his office.

“He has been co-operative, and I’ll take him at his word that he is being transparent. He did not know we were going to serve the warrant today,” Ligon explained. .

The priest was arrested after a man and woman accused him of abuse while he was assigned to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe from the late 1990s to early 2000s.
