Police in the Fort Worth won't allow a caregiver to continue working after a 2-year-old girl died in her care.
An affidavit says Shamonica Page admitted she repeatedly struck Aniyah Darnell with a belt and burned her buttocks for discipline; and didn't care to have the girl treated for the burn.
Authorities were called to an apartment in Arlington, Texas Saturday for a child who was not breathing. After being transported, the girl was pronounced dead at a hospital. An autopsy is expected to determine the exact cause of death.
Page had been caring for Aniyah since August for the little girl's mother but it remains unclear what her relationship is to the little girl.
Page's records doing list the name of an attorney and she's charged with injury to a child.
Two other children from the home are now in Child Protective Services custody.
