Thanksgiving travel to be one of the busiest in years

HOUSTON - AAA Texas projects 4.1 million Texans will journey 50 miles or more away from home this Thanksgiving, a 4.7 percent increase over last year. Overall, AAA projects 54.3 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more away from home this Thanksgiving, a 4.8 percent increase over last year.

Travelers will be packing airports for thanksgiving holiday with 264,000 Texans flying which is a five percent increase form last year.

Joshua Zuber with AAA Texas says the economy is helping consumers to feel confident to spend and travel this holiday season. He does have a piece of advice, "You really want to pack your patience when heading to the airport so just be prepared for longer than usual lines at the airport."

The 2018 holiday weekend will see the highest Thanksgiving travel volume in more than a dozen years (since 2005) for both Texas and the United States.
