Ken Paxton Defeats Nelson To Retain State AG Post

(Austin, TX)  --  Ken Paxton is in for a second term as Texas Attorney General after defeating Democrat Justin Nelson in Tuesday's midterm.

Paxton promised Republican voters he would continue his efforts to limit abortion and protect the free exercise of religion, especially for people opposed to same-sex marriage.

He championed voter ID and redistricting, and opposed sanctuary cities and taxpayer support for Planned Parenthood.  Nelson made Paxton's legal troubles the focus of his campaign for the office.
