Harris County judge releases most juvenile defendants after losing election

HOUSTON - A Harris County Juvenile Court judge is releasing most of the defendants who appeared before him after he was voted out of office.  Republican Judge Glenn Devlin told all but one of the kids on Wednesday they could go after asking them if they planned to kill anyone.

One public defender told the Houston Chronicle,  "Devlin justified his decision by saying it was what the voters wanted."

The District Attorney's Office isn't happy with the releases saying they believe it puts the public in danger. The kids will have to make another court appearance next year when Devlin's replacement is sworn into office.
