The polls are opening up today as the midterm elections are finally here.
Polls will be open from 7am until 7pm. Fort Bend County Elections Administrator John Oldham tells KTRH early voting turnout was big, but he doesn't know what to expect today.
“We had a turnout like this in the last Presidential and had a decent Election Day turnout,” Oldham explained. “But we also sometimes have had big early voting and then nothing on Election Day.”
Texas GOP Chairman James Dickey says he knows Texas Democrats are fired up, but so are Republicans.
“They realize just exactly what is at stake. There is no reason to believe that turnout is not going to be as big as it has been so far.
More than 4 and a half million Texans have already voted, which has surpassed the total number of Texas voters from the 2014 election.
