Jury: Terry Thompson found guilty of murder in retrial in Denny's fight

UPDATE - A jury has found Terry Thompson guilty of murder in the chokehold death of John Hernandez, 24. The death happened outside a Denny's restaurant in northeast Houston in May of 2017. A first trial ended in a hung jury. 

Closing arguments ended Friday, Thompson's wife, former Harris County deputy Chauna Thompson will have her day in court in 2019.


(Houston, TX)  --  Jury deliberations are set to continue today in the retrial of Terry Thompson.  Prosecutors and defense attorneys made their closing arguments on Friday.  Afterwards, the jury didn't reach a verdict, so they were sent home for the weekend.  

Thompson and his wife Chauna, a former Harris County deputy, are separately charged with murdering John Hernandez last year in a fight outside a Denny's on Crosby Freeway in northeast Houston.  Thompson's first trial ended with a hung jury.  Chauna Thompson is to be tried next year.
