Two Killed in Lone Star Rally Crashes

Two people have died in unrelated crashes during the annual Lone Star Rally on Galveston Island.

The first occurred early Friday evening.  A motorcyclist rear ended another biker who was turning onto East Beach Dr.   Two people were on the motorcycle that hit the other bike.  Both slid off the seawall, and a 54-year old female passenger from Rockwall, Texas suffered a fatal head injury.  Her partner was also hurt.  Neither person was wearing a helmet.

The second crash occurred several hours later.  Witnesses say a motorcyclist was speeding and lost control on the 61st Street overpass.   The 65-year old League City man – who also was not wearing a helmet – died at UTMB.

The annual rally, which draws as many as 250,000 visitors to the island, ends Sunday.
