White-tail deer hunting season opens Saturday in TX

HOUSTON - November 3 marks the big opening for white-tail deer hunting in Texas. Nearly 750,00 deer hunters will be going after 4,500,000 white-tail deer. Steve Lightfoot, Spokesperson with Texas Parks and Wildlife, says hunters need to take their time.

"Be patient. Deer are habitual. They typically have the same routine. So, a lot of scouting and observation."

Lightfoot says the start of the season will be a little different thanks to recent flooding. "A bit of challenge seeing very many deer the opening weekend as they may not come as readily to corn feeders. They will be working on native forage for the most part early on."

The white-tail deer season ends for Houston-area hunters  on January 20, 2019.
