Early voting period ends tonight

The last day to vote early in Texas for the 2018 Midterms is today. Polls in Harris County will close at 7 o’clock tonight. County Clerk Stan Stanart says there have been eye popping numbers.

“In 2014 we did 688 thousand. We tied that number, and we still have one day left for early voting and Election Day, too,” Stanart said.

More than 150 thousand have voted in Fort Bend County, where that county's GOP Chair, Jacey Jetton says their ground game has been the key.

“We’ve done a good job of turning out the base. That was the concern at the beginning of the year, but we’ve done a good job,” Jetton stated.

And Wally Wilkerson with the Montgomery County Republican Party told KTRH his voters have been fired up since the Kavanaugh hearings.

“That solidified the Republican vote,” Wilkerson stated.

More than 115 thousand have voted in Montgomery County as well.
