HPD: FBI agent’s claim does not check out

The Houston Police Department has completed its investigation into the shooting of a kidnapping victim earlier this year.

At the time of the shooting, the agent who pulled the trigger that killed Ulises Valladares maintained that he fired when he felt he was about to lose control of the weapon.  HPD Chief Art Acevedo says that didn't check out.

“Our findings do not support the description of how this incident occurred. It does not support the statement that he made,” Acevedo said earlier this morning.

So what is next for the investigation? It now moves on to the United States Attorney's office in San Antonio. Sophia Heath, Jimmy Sanchez and Nicolas Cunningham have been charged in connection with Valladares’ kidnapping.
