(Washington, DC) -- Hundreds of U.S. troops will reportedly be deployed to the U.S.-Mexican border soon. They will be helping the Border Patrol prepare for the slow-moving immigrant caravan that's traveling north through Mexico.
The 800 troops are to provide logistical support to the Border Patrol, such as vehicles, tents and equipment.
Defense Secretary Jim Mattis is responding to a request from President Trump, who has called the caravan a growing national emergency for the U.S. About 21-hundred National Guard troops are already at the border.
